A highly experienced consultant, speaker, and author, Kate Katz designs, leads, and supports transformation and culture initiatives on behalf of clients across the spectrum of healthcare operations.

With 20 years of experience serving clients in the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada, Kate serves as a trusted organizational advisor, with a strong emphasis on supporting healthcare entities. Working closely with executive teams, she designs new organizational structures and processes, leads transformation programs to improve access to high-quality clinical care, and helps improve workplace cultures.

Kate holds an MA, Professional Practice in Organization Development, Healthcare and Healthcare Education from Middlesex University in London.

EXPERIENCE

Kate Katz is a Principal at FMG Leading, a team of advisors that creates world-class organizations at the intersection of humanity and high performance. With experience designing and leading complex engagements, including transformation programs for tens of thousands of employees, she consistently meets and exceeds expectations while helping mentor and develop future leaders.

With extensive healthcare advisory experience, Kate brings deep industry expertise and a strong track record to FMG Leading’s clients. Notably, she led a change program for a revenue cycle improvement initiative at a $5 billion healthcare system, resulting in more than $100 million in yield improvement. Kate also leveraged change management and leadership development strategies to successfully implement ambulatory clinic innovations across more than 25 medical specialties for a $1.4 billion academic medical center. In addition, she led a change program for a $2 billion public health system, supporting their successful transformation journey back to financial stability.

Kate joined FMG Leading from the consulting firm Huron where she served as a Healthcare Principal and led the organization’s Healthcare Change Management and Leadership capability. Previously, she led a multi-year change management program at HCSC, introducing a new claims operating model and organizational structure to a division of 7,000 people. She has also held roles at the Center for Health Policy at The Brookings Institution, and spent nearly a decade as the Principal of her own boutique management consultancy in London.

A well-known industry speaker, Kate has delivered keynote addresses at hospital association conventions, healthcare leadership conferences, and health system-specific leadership development institutes. She has authored works published in such publications as Brookings Health360, Health Affairs, and HealthCare: The Journal of Delivery Science and Innovation.

ACADEMIC AFFILIATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Kate attended Middlesex University in London, where she earned a Master of Arts degree, Professional Practice in Organization Development, Healthcare and Healthcare Education, and a Postgraduate Certificate, Professional Practice in Health and Education Change Management. She is a Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner (PCCP) and a Certified Kaizen Practitioner, as well as a member of and mentor for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA).

PERSONAL

Kate lives with her husband and children just outside Chicago, IL. When not working she enjoys biking, pilates, reading, and watching F1 racing.
