Dr. Mark Gasta

Principal

Mark brings over 25 years of C-Suite and corporate experience to his role as Principal at FMG Leading.

Prior to joining FMG Leading, Mark served as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer for Vail Resorts Management Company, the premier luxury mountain resort company in the world. In his role at Vail Resorts, Mark planned and executed on organization-wide people strategies that increased effectiveness and enhanced performance and health throughout Vail’s 30,000 employees. An expert in leader development, team alignment, empowerment, engagement, and high-performing cultures, Mark is also currently Associate Director of the Outdoor Recreation Economy (ORE) Program and an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Mark received his Bachelors of Science degree from California Polytechnic State University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Denver, and his Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Change from Pepperdine University.

EXPERIENCE

Mark Gasta, Ed.D., is a Principal at FMG Leading, a team of advisors and coaches who help clients achieve breakthrough performance through world-class human capital strategy. Prior to joining FMG Leading, Mark served as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer for Vail Resorts Management Company, the premier mountain resort company in the world and a leader in luxury, destination-based travel at iconic locations. In this position, Mark was responsible for planning and executing on organization-wide people strategies designed to increase organization effectiveness and enhance organizational performance and health through the development and empowerment of Vail’s 30,000 employees. During his time with Vail Resorts, the company was honored as one of the top employers in the country by Forbes magazine and as one of the Top 50 Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company. Mark has also been nominated for a Lifetime Achievement award by HRO Today, a leading industry organization for HR professionals.

Before Vail Resorts, Mark served as the Corporate Vice President of Organizational Development for Comcast Communications’ 90,000 employees. He also served as the Vice President of Human Resources for Comcast’s West Division, which consisted of 14,000 employees throughout the Western United States. Additionally, Mark has held various human resources management positions with AT&T Broadband, Lexis-Nexis and Target Corporation. He also served in the United States Army as a commissioned officer and aviator.

Mark is an active member of several professional associations including Human Resource People and Strategy, the Organizational Development Network, and the Academy of Management. Mark has served on many non-profit boards including the Colorado Outward Bound School, Leave No Trace and the Urban League.

ACADEMIC AFFILIATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Mark received his Bachelors of Science degree from California Polytechnic State University, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Denver, and his Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Organizational Change from Pepperdine University. He has previously served as an adjunct professor for the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, and is currently the Associate Director of the Outdoor Recreation Economy (ORE) Program and an Associate Professor at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
