Troy Freeland is a seasoned human resources advisory professional specializing in people strategy, organization design, and business reorganization. He brings to his engagements a relentless focus on organizational performance, growth and human connectedness.

Over the past two decades, Troy has been dedicated to helping organizations develop strong people strategies and cultures that fuel their ambitions. His work in full-time and interim HR leadership positions has encompassed mergers and acquisitions, HR analytics, employee experience and engagement, performance and talent management, and diversity and inclusion. Troy’s past roles include senior positions at UL, Barclay’s Bank and Bosch. He also led the team providing HR service delivery to the paid and volunteer staff at the London 2012 Olympics.

Troy earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University with a major in business and a minor in Spanish. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

EXPERIENCE

Troy Freeland is a Senior Consultant with FMG Leading, a team of advisors that creates world-class organizations at the intersection of humanity and high performance. He brings to the firm extensive human resources expertise, including significant experience as an interim CHRO for organizations across a wide range of sectors.

For nearly ten years, Troy worked at UL, a global leader in applied safety science, where he had the privilege of advising the largest businesses in the enterprise to acquire and develop new services to scale. He held numerous positions in the company’s HR department before being promoted to Vice-president of People Technology (HRIS), DEI, and Employee Experience capability centers, a role that empowered him to directly support the organization’s business strategy and enable its success.

Previously, Troy worked as HR Manager, Risk at Barclay’s Bank in the United Kingdom, where he provided HR advisory leadership during difficult economic conditions. He also launched greenfield operations in Mexico for Bosch while working as an International Human Resources Generalist, and led the team providing HR service delivery to the more than 2,000 paid and volunteer staff at the London 2012 Olympics.

In addition to his work with FMG Leading, Troy serves as a business and HR leader at Mindful Care, a startup with the goal of addressing the nation’s mental health crisis. Since its founding, it has expanded from one to sixteen clinics across five states.

Troy brings to everything he does a strong mission of personal responsibility. He helps support youth in his community, increasing their exposure to STEM/STEM careers through speaking engagements at local high schools and by judging the Destination Imagination competition. He is also active in alleviating the food security many families face in the U.S. and around the world, and volunteers at the Texas Central Foodbank.

PERSONAL

Troy currently resides in Austin, Texas. He can often be found running through Texas Hill Country and connecting with nature in a variety of ways. He enjoys great wine and food, and traveling to places like Chile to spend time with his family and Godchildren.
