Dr. Mark Gasta and Jeff Klem speak at the 2018 Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference
Vail, CO – October 30, 2018 - FMG Leading’s Hospitality and Tourism Principal Dr. Mark Gasta along with Senior Consultant Jeff Klem participated as speakers at the 2018 Colorado Governor's Tourism Conference in Vail, Colorado. Their session, titled “Easing The Tourism Workforce Crunch”. was held to bring attention to the work being done to build a stronger tourism workforce.
The interactive presentation focused on how to inspire passion for tourism careers while building a talent pool that can support the health of the industry. Moderated by Stephanie Copeland, Executive Director, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, the panel also discussed how low unemployment rates are affecting the quantity of available skilled job seekers and the work that can be done to ease the problem. Proposed solutions included recruiting from other geographies, building the organic pipeline, and re-training/attracting mid-career job seekers.
